Sailesh Babu about Erasmus trip to Portugal
Going to Lisbon alone for my Erasmus semester was both exciting and terrifying—a new country, a new university, and no familiar faces. But those six months turned out to be the best of my life.
"I met incredible people from all over the world, forming friendships that felt like family. The studies were different from what I was used to—more interactive, discussion-based, and sometimes challenging, but always a fun way of studying. Adapting to a new academic system broadened my perspective, improving my critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Group projects, research work, and practical-based lectures made the learning process more engaging.
Beyond academics, I travelled across Portugal, from the beaches of the Algarve to the vineyards of Porto, experiencing its beauty, culture, and traditions. There were many ESN (Erasmus Student Network) trips, spontaneous meetups, and, of course, a vibrant social life that made every day exciting.
But Erasmus was much more than just fun; it was a journey of personal growth. Studying in an international environment taught me adaptability, resilience, and the importance of cultural exchange. I became more independent, open-minded, and filled with unforgettable memories.
Lisbon will always be a second home, a place that shaped me in ways I never expected. Erasmus wasn’t just an experience; it was a life-changing adventure!"
